I feel so fat after a winter of pigging out... plus i work in an office so i sit all day except during lunch so my butt is growing sideways  Gym membership is too $$$ and my dad hogs the TV so i hardly ever get to use my Wii. Heard about the 30 Day Shred DVD from MUA, so i kinda wanna try it.

Has anyone tried it and got good results? I think this DVD would be the best bet for me cuz i can just exercise in my room. It has good reviews on Please login or register to view links <-- click to view.

Well, if your dad will be using the TV, then you probably won't have the opportunity to watch the DVD, lol.

For starters, just cut down on sweets and other junk food. Replace them with more healthier alternatives like fruits/veggies, all-bran bars, etc. Then use the gym at your school, they're usually free or very inexpensive. If not, just jump on your bike and start biking like what I do (UBC and Stanley Park done... up next: New Westminster and SFU). If you don't have a bike, just do regular jogging and walking.

All workout videos give the same message, work out hard/frequent and eat better.

I read tons of threads about the 30DS and they said it works really well, especially when you first start.
But.... You'll also be super sore after the first time you try (if you don't regulary exercise) which is common with other exercises too.

I recently got it and I'm gonna try it out next week!
I've been trying to keep my calorie intake low just so I don't fain weight, but I haven't been exercising so I'm excited to start the 30DS lol

I'll be watching the DVD on my computer lol. I don't actually eat sweets or junk food, i don't really have a sweet tooth... i just want to tone up for summer lol. And like i said i work in an office so no free gyms at school cuz i already graduated... I know i'll never keep up with jogging and walking outside cuz i hate the cold lol. That's why i wanted to do the dvd cuz i can do it from the comfort of my own room.

I don't think all workout videos are made equal, some have really hardcore workouts that actually do help, and some others are just wussy useless crap, so i was looking to see if anyone had experience with this dvd in particular. I don't need the video to tell me to work out/eat better, that's common sense, i want it to SHOW me how to exercise specific areas of my body to tone them up.

Thanks, maybe we should start a thread to keep ourselves motivated while doing this lol :p

^ I know people measure parts of their body before starting and track their progress with measuring those same parts.

I also read in a few threads that even some people that are already active (running/jogging outdoors regularly) had a tough time with it, so this dvd might really kick @ss lol

I got dvd for pretty much the same reason as you too! I hate running on the treadmill and jogging outside. The biggest factor though is that I don't have much time to exercise either, so it's great that the dvd is only like 30 min including the warm up =3
  6. I was wondering how the DVD is working for you guys? It's my 11th day doing it, I haven't measured myself but I can feel that I'm getting bulky calfs and thighs. Does anyone have the same problem?

    Thanks!

I only did 10 days on the 30DS before giving up LOL. I didn't really notice much difference, but I'm doing a fitness bootcamp right now that uses the same idea of "muscle confusion" and have definitely noticed myself getting more toned and fitter. I think if you keep up with the DVD it's entirely possible to get somewhat similar results.

The first 3 days really kicked my butt. I was sore.
I didn't notice any bulkiness. It toned my theighs and waist. I started jogging while I was doing the 30DS and it helped slim down.
I lasted 19 days and than I got sick for 5 days. I should get back into it :(

I tried it and I enjoyed it, but I got bored after a month. I found it for free online somewhere on soompi if you wanted to check there instead of buying it. I didn't notice much of a difference tbh, but I was already in good shape when I started it. I remember that when I first started it though, it made me sweat like crazy :p

I didn't notice any significant weight loss when I did the 30 Day Shed last year for a month, but my endurance certainly improved. It's probably 'cause I didn't combine the exercise with a sensible diet; I was still eating junk then. :unsure

eating junk food wouldn't help :) while your on the 30DS. hehe.

I started it a few months after I had broken my collar bone... it was healed but I was weak and lazy from not exercising when I was healing so I thought it would be a good way to build up my endurance and get fit again. I was in pretty good shape before my collar bone broke but the 6 months it took to heal I pretty much did nothing lol. When I did 30DS I did level one a few extra times because I wanted to be in a comfortable place strength wise before moving on to the next level.

The one thing I will say is it killed my knees a little bit. I wasnt doing the exercises wrong or anything. I think it had to do with the shoes I was wearing.. or at least thats what my friend who's a trainer said. Luckily my bf has one of those bike stands where you lock your road bike into and can ride it in place at home which definitely helped my knees feel better.

It gets pretty hardcore when you get to level 3, not for the faint of heart and you wont get anything out of it unless you push yourself to the maximum when you do it. Like actually push yourself to keep going when you really want to give up. Also, If you ARE going to do it and expect to see results you HAVE to cut out junk food and processed sugars and cut down on alcohol consumption. That means no sugar in your coffee! You dont have to diet, just eat clean and healthy while you do it and you'll lose weight. And you really do have to push yourself when you do it. Keep going even if your legs/abs/arms are burning.

Even if you dont see any physical changes after the first 10 days, keep going!! 30 days really isnt that long.

Oh yeah one more thing, the trevor linden gym club 16 is pretty affordable. I had a membership there. It was $20/month for a month-month contract and you get unlimited tanning! booya. if you think about the money you spend on eating sweets/treats/sugars every month it probably works out to be the same as the cost of the gym membership ;)
