Can anyone who has a similar body shape and size as me help me decide which dress size to get in UK sizes? I'm not sure if this helps but i wear size 2 for BCBG dress sizes, fit size xs-s shirts, 34A-34B bra, 25-26 jean size, and i'm almost 5"4. :( Can't decide if im size 6 or 8..the models that are wearing 8 look so skinny too..I also read on mallvibes somewhere that you don't get charged for duties if its under $100, is this still true? Does it usually take 9-10 days like it says on the website.

does anyone know if a size 2 BCBG dress fits uk 6 or 8 tho? :S I don't know my exact measurements.

it's not hard to find a measuring tape and do it yourself.
H&M uses UK sizing or has uk sizing so why not go there and try t out as a comparison.

and FYI, Im a size 8 in UK *according to H&M and Im 34C, 5'4 27-28 in jeans.

i lost my measuring tape.. where else can you buy it except online? Also does anyone know if h&m UK size is the same as asos's site.

If you don't have a measuring tape, just use a piece of string and a ruler.

The size chart that xneener posted is for ASOS brand clothing. If you're buying a different brand, it's best to look up a size chart for that particular company and use that as a guide, since the sizing might be different from ASOS' own brand.

Get a size 6. My bestie has almost the exact measurements as you and she ordered size 6 which fits perfectly.

okay thank you i was stuck on size 6 or 8.. was about to order an 8. The models that are always wearing an 8 look so skinny tho..

Hey it depends on the dress material too!
I ordered a tight fitting dress and was TTS but when I ordered something that had elastane in it...it was too big and I had to get it resized Q.Q
  10. vietdollyful Full Member

so if im a size 6 and its made out of satin like material its TTS? But if its made out of like jersey/elastic material, what size would i choose? :S
I'm afraid size 6 might be too small for me cuz the skinny model is wearing a size 8! Going to try to find measuring tape at dollar store...

i found if it's under $50 Canadian you don't get charges at the door. I bought a $80 CAD dress, got charged $30 at the door.
  12. vietdollyful Full Member

:( damn i read on somebody else's post that you dont get charged under $100.
  13. ELLE (8) Elite Member Known Trader

I ordered a dress for $70 USD and didn't get charged, try to stay around $50...sometimes it's the luck of a draw thing.

You have to take into account that the model is taller than you (I think) so her proportions are different. If you're scared then size up and get it altered...

FYI, just go buy measuring tape. I found that US sizes don't much cause US tends to do vanity sizing and these UK sizes don't. So sometimes you buy a dress that says you're a 4 but really you're a 6. (That's vanity sizing)
  14. vietdollyful Full Member

oh ok thanks. Do you think dollar stores would have measuring tape? I don't know any sewing stores near me.
  15. ELLE (8) Elite Member Known Trader

Yup! Even superstores, go to the home aisle and there's a sewing kit that has measuring tape!
  16. vietdollyful Full Member

Okay .. So I finally got my measurements using dollar store measuring tape.
    Bust: 35"
    Bandwidth: 32"
    Hips: 36-37"
    Waist: 28"

I'm not sure whether I fall into size 8-12 UK... I never expected to be anywhere near size 10 UK either.. I just tried on two of my moms bcbg dresses. The size two I was able to fit into but it was fairly tight her size 6 I was able to fit into with it fitting me pretty well :( why do I fit two different dress sizes?! Can someone help me which size to buy.. Cuz some of the measurements r off for size 8-10 but I'm scared it'll be too big when I get it.

Can you link us the dress? Size up or down depending on the material. And US sizes seem to be vanity so it doesn't match up on the US --> UK size chart.

And seriously, if it's too big. Get it altered. If you think that's ridiculous then don't order online, simple as that.

How much is it usually to get something altered and will it take more than about 3 days ? :S I've never had alterations done before.
