    Hello there,
    I really need your help.
I sent a package (small packet air) that contained 2 iphones 5 weeks ago from Calgary- Canada to my brother in Saudi Arabia.
They told me in the post office that it would take 6 to 10 business days. However, it is 5 weeks now and I don't know nothing about my package. Unfortunately, I was extremely stupid not to send my package by priority service (trackable) that would have costed me 150 dollars and I paid only 50 dollars for the small packet air because I thought 10 days is a reasonable time.
I called CanadaPost, they said wait 45 days since the day of sending your parcel and then we will investigate it.
Is there anything I can do? where should we ask in Saudi Arabaia? is there any package number I can use to ask in the Saudi customs? I have a receipt with term ID and Seq # but I don't know if I can use any. How will Canadapost investigate and is there any possibility of stealing my parcel?
Please help me, I'm so worried about this package.
    Thanks a lot.

Did you get a tracking number?
  3. Mohamed Attia New Member

unfortunately no. She told me the only way to track it was using Priority service which was quite expensive (150 dollars). anything else is not trackable. Am I screwed?

Sorry to hear that... I used to live in the Middle East and from what I remember, it takes ages for any mail to arrive especially if it's coming all the way from North America. Customs over there is horrible. I would say give it a few more days and see if Canada Post can help you out. Good luck!

Unfortunately (small packet air) doesn't include a tracking number because it can slip through the mail slot or just dropped off (from what I was told). Whenever I ship small expensive items, I try to send them in the larger packaging so I can get a tracking number & pay for getting it insured and signed for.

I've done what you've done except it was something else and I was sending it to Turkey. After 45 days, Canada Post didn't really do anything about the situation and it FINALLY reached the other person 2 months later -.- You're lucky the person receiving it is your family member or else the feeling of your package being "lost" in transit is really horrible =/

    Thanks Kit and Electra.
Then it is normal not to reach within 45 days :-(
CanadaPost sucks. why did she tell me it would take 2-3 weeks maximum while it is possible to take 2-3 months. Why sending a package takes 2-3 month by air? this is too confusing.
Is there anything I can do? I can tell my brother to ask in Saudi customs but they need the number of package. I don't have this number, I think they give every package a number before being shipped.
I can even pay extra money to find it. I've two iphone (1600 dollars) inside this box :-(

It might not be Canada Post's fault, it might be the country you're sending it to. And it's being held at their post office. I send things to my cousins in Hong Kong and it's received at their post office but it isn't given out to them until ages later.

The Broadway Shoppers Drug Mart Post Office Manager told me Canada Post transfers the packages to a different postal service once it reaches the certain country. For example in my situation, Canada Post sent my package by air but once it got into Turkey, it was the responsibility of whatever postal service they had there that collaborates with Canada Post.

But when my brother asks in the Saudi post, they tell him we received nothing and we need the package number to find it.
All I got from CanadaPost was two receipts, one of them shows Seq #, approval code and term ID. and the other for my payment.
I don't know if any of these numbers represent package number though.

Ok 45 days are over and I called to investigate. They need 3 months to investigate it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
any suggestions? anything I can do?
    Please help!
  11. ELECTRA (1) Member New Trader

Yeah ... those numbers will do you no good. All you can do now is wait it out.
  12. Mohamed Attia New Member

Then should I wait these god damn 3 months?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  13. noah Member

^Yes, there's nothing you can do to expedite the process.

I think this is the last time EVER I'll use CanadaPost. and I'll tell ALL my friends to avoid it.
    This is sucks.
No credibility, no honesty. I don't know how they ever say 6 to 10 days and then say wait 45 days and now they ask me to wait 3 month!!

based on the above posts, i wouldnt blame it all on canada post. i've never sent anything overseas, that far out. i personally think that not all services are gauranteed to be pronto especially when it involves a foreign country where you're not familiar with their services, procedures etc. although technology is improving as the years go by, there will always be glitches in the system.

I'm sorry, but why should you boycott Canada Post, when you're also at fault.

u can't blame canada post for u being cheap and stupid. if u can afford to pay 1600 for 2 iPhones then the extra $100 should mean nothing to u.

I didn't buy them, my brother did. I wanted to keep them till I go back home but he asked me to send them by mail. I know I was wrong but sending a small packet air parcel doesn't mean you gonna lose it. It might be slower but as safe as the more expensive services.
I don't have that much experience in mail issues but I think I should have been told that this service might take 2-3 month although it is stated on the website it takes 6 to 1-0 days or even mentioning it is not safe for expensive stuff.

what's done is done, it doesnt help playing the blame game :)
  20. Mohamed Attia New Member

yeah you are right. I just wonder if I can do anything. I can't believe that investigating an item takes 3 months!
