Hi does anyone know if SFU allows sit in for their undergraduate courses? Like 100 to 200 level?

Attendence isnt taken and usually at lecture has 100+ students, i think you would go unnotice...

officially you have to pay. but unofficially it depends on the class. some 100-200 levels have really little people (especially night classes), so you might get noticed. otherwise it should be fine.

im actually planning on sitting in into a development and sustainability class. it has 80 ppl so i should be fine.

which class are you planning on sitting in?

which class are you thinking of? most of the time, noone cares/noticed, but some classes like one of my marketing classes is only 30 students and prof knows everyone.

I am planning to sit in for BUS 251 and BUS 272. I have permission for BUS 272 already but interested in BUS 251 too. It has 124 students I think I can get unnoticed....

What is the point of sitting in? Just curious. I mean you can sit in for any class and no one will noticed unless it's a seminar. You obviously can't get access to all the homework and such.

im sitting in the class to see if im interested in the topic and possibly doing a minor in it

that's very smart actually. i should do that
  9. depends which class u sit in for.. usually for 100 level courses, they're in the big lecture halls and enrollment is high so it wont matter

you should go to econ 103 with doug allen (he's a good prof and interesting too) the enrollment is 420 students so there should be enough seats lol u might as well sit in that course too.. u might end up liking econ!!

Anyone did actually sit in this sem?

i did. did it on tuesday and doing it tmr. going to pick one to enroll in.

Actually I find that if you ask the prof or lecturer nicely and if it's a big lecture hall lecture, most of them are okay with student sitting-in their class.

why ask when you can just do it? i sat in a 20 ppl class today (i asked since it was so small) and ended up signing up for it.

I just want to be on the safe side ;) I heard that you have to pay as an audit student....and I plan to sit-in to listen for the whole semester :p

Yeah you gotta pay to audit.

So yea it's best to ask first. Some of them are fine to let you sit-in thou, the downside is that you don't have the notes but since I just want to learn so it's okay.

^why not just registrar for the class -_-'
  18. Mokaccino New Member

Because I don't need it for my degree ;)

Actually I am doing sit-in because I want to brush-up my accounting skills. I am long away from my undergraduate years and I found that doing sit-in is a good way as refreshing my memory.
