What to wear to a wedding

I have probably about 3 friend's weddings comming up this summer and I need ideas on what to wear. I don't think I can fit into any of the summery stuff I already have.

Any ideas or suggestions would be great! I'm not the totally girly type to wear girlie dresses (although I do love them) it's not really my style. i'm more curvy so sexy (not too) is more my style.

    Thanks!!!

i would say take advantage of the great summer dresses that are SO IN this season. they are EVERYWHERE! especially if you don't want to spend a lot, go to costa blanca or urban behaviours. but if you want to get something more subtle that you can wear more than once, go to le chateau and get a dress in a colour. can't wear black to summer weddings!

I totally agree. You also should not wear white (upstaging the bride). Summer dresses are fine for weddings, and I like some of the two piece ones that are out there.

If you don't want to wear a dress, I would recommend a flashy silk patterned shirt with white pants and killer gold/silver heels. There are lots of really pretty patterned shirts at Zara right now. I can't seem to steal a picture from their site, but I'll try to find one elsewhere and post it.

I personally would go with a really awesome dress. Like one of the more "plain" dresses that are being sold for grad now. Plain meaning not the poofy princess dresses, but something more sleek and form fitting. I wouldn't wear black at a wedding or anywhere in the summer for that matter and white would be just straight up rude (to the bride). So bold colours and stretchy fabric are my suggestions.
EDIT: Le Chateau & Marciano dresses are awesome!

quick question: in respect to not wearing white, would a white cocktail dress with red floral like pattern be ok, or not a good idea????

    thanks for the help!

I mean this in the nicest possible way, but please don't try to upstage the bride! I've seen (and know a few) girls and I see their Facebook pictures where they've gone to weddings in groups and they dress like they're going to the club... very tight revealing clothes, lots of makeup, hair all done up. I think it's just over the top. I have nothing against people who want to look nice for a wedding but at the same time I feel like they're just trying too hard to look good for others when the night should be about the bride and the groom. I think I just formed this opinion based on the way the girls posed in their pictures haha... the same way you see groups of girls taking pictures at the club. It just doesn't look appropriate to me. That, and I think I'd be annoyed if I invited girls like that to my wedding and they showed up as if they were getting ready to have a grind-fest.

But seriously, I also have two weddings to go to this summer, so I'm also thinking about what I can wear so that I can look nice but still wedding-appropriate. I bought a TON of dresses to wear this summer. I would probably pair them with a cardigan for the evening and not too high heels.

Have fun and good luck! Summer weddings are awesome, and are so romantic. You should tell us what you end up wearing and post some pictures! :D

Agreed^ I was just at a wedding about two weeks ago ... I had in mind Not to upstage the bride and to be respectful since there would be alot of Asians there that were elders that probably didnt want to see our "junk" hanging out" I Did wear Something whiteish tho... but i had designs on it ...
Its actually really up to the bride. I had asked her a few days b4 the wedding if she would mind and she had told me that throughout the night she would be changing into three different outfits So it wasnt going to be a big deal... I kept my makeup simple and my hair was Down.
But at the wedding i saw this girl there in a White Short ass dress running around the hall with her little friend giggling away... she looked like she was no older then 17 ... and i thought "wow this isnt no club u'd bounce around with your girls young blood..." and her dress we Completly White!! so after i saw her i didnt feel bad at all for wearing the dress i wore...
i actually have a picture of the girl ... but i dont think i should post it up just incase she uses this forum...

    blur the face! hahaha
But yeah, wow. I always thought it was inappropriate for any other girl other than the bride to wear all-white to a wedding. Shrug. I guess some girls just don't know any better.

wow i want to see the picture too! anyways i haven't been to many wedding myself but i don't think wearing white would be that bad to wear. yeah brides tend to wear white but not all the time... i do however agree that upstaging the bride is a huge nono... i cannot belive how some people would actually dress at a wedding. i think maybe they do this because it is a wedding. the might assiociate a wedding with "single" people.

Same, I've got about two weddings to attend this summer.

OT: Can anyone suggest some places to find some cute dresses? I'm looking for something nice and simple, something that can perhaps be worn for more casual occasions because I would hate to buy a dress, only to wear it once!!

^ I suggest a really simple summer dress. I have a Grecian-style (kind of) dress that I bought last year for the summer from Urban Behaviour, the straps are twisted, and it's kind of like a tank dress, and goes to a little above my knee and I've gotten SO MUCH wear out of it! You can always dress up simple dresses with accessories too! Urban Outfitters, Urban Behaviour, Forever 21, and Costa Blanca often have kind of simple, monotone dresses...I will try to post examples if I find any!

If the wedding is more black-tie and fancy though, definitely go with something from like Nordstrom...or maybe like your old prom or grad dress!!!

    Eddiiit:

Forever 21 has a babydoll dress as one of their Brilliant Buys (only $11.50!) and with this kinda dress you can use it for any occasion, just accessorize!
