what exactly do you mean by "where is it?" If you mean where are the Victoria's secret stores then it's in the U.S. The closest one if you live in vancouver is bellingham..

Re: Victoria's Secret Semi-Anual Sale
in the news it say us custom deliberate take long time to let u cross border. good luk.
Border lineups may get 'very ugly' Vancouver Sun Published: Wednesday, June 11, 2008 Customs officers may deliberately slow down traffic at border crossings between B.C. and the U.S. to highlight contract disputes, making waiting times even longer, union officials are warning. Union vice-president Jean-Pierre Fortin said the situation at border crossing could get "very ugly." In some areas of central and eastern Canada, customs officers -- who have been without a contract for nearly a year but are not in a legal strike position -- have been taking more time to process trucks as they try to clear customs. Although the West has so far been largely spared, Fortin said it is likely the movement would extend to major border crossings such as those south of Vancouver. "I'm sure that's going to escalate as the frustrations grow," added Dan Leibel, who represents the customs excise union in southern B.C. "I'm feeling frustrated myself." There are fears the delays could extend to ports and airports. "My estimation is that it's going to get very ugly," Leibel said. "I think you're going to see small pockets of rebellion from our members, not instructed by the union, but taking it upon themselves. Several people will maybe muster together the troops and say, 'Let's do something about this'." The threat of more border tie-ups is bad news for a local tourism industry already hit hard by a strong Canadian dollar, rising gas prices, tighter U.S. security measures and construction at the Peace Arch border crossing. White Rock mayor Judy Forster said any additional waits would be "detrimental to the whole greater Vancouver area." "We've had a huge decline in American tourism because of the inconvenience of the border," she said. "We used to have a lot of day-timers. "A lot of Washingtonians used to come up to White Rock ... for fish and chips and things like that. You don't see that spontaneity as much, just because of the tie-ups at the border." Ken Oplinger, president of the Bellingham Whatcom Chamber of Commerce, said pressure tactics by border guards would be "a problem" for his region too. Oplinger said long lineups are largely to blame for the fact that only half the number of people are crossing the border as in the early 1990s, when the Canadian dollar was also strong. "There has got to be other ways that they can make their voices heard in Ottawa that do not entail purposely delaying people that are trying to travel over the border," Oplinger said. Salaries, seniority, job security and arming border guards are among the issues at the heart of the contract dispute, Fortin said. "We want to have parity with police and correctional officers," he said. The union is seeking 29.3 per cent in salary increases over three years, but the last offer from the Canada Border Services Agency was for less than two per cent per year over four years. Fortin called that offer a "slap in the face" and "ridiculous." "The employer is trying to provoke our people," Fortin said. "Our people were so shocked by the offer that they've already started using pressure tactics. We're trying to calm things down." Negotiations have broken off and no future talks have been scheduled, he said. CBSA spokeswoman Tracie LeBlanc said she could not comment on negotiations or the pressure tactics, other than to say: "The CBSA will respond quickly to any situation in order to maintain the security of our border and ensure that it remains open to legitimate travellers and goods." As of June 21, customs officers will have been without a contract for a year, Fortin said. "We tell our people we don't want to inconvenience the Canadian public, they've often backed us on security matters," Fortin said. "Could there be an impact [to ordinary drivers] at some locations? That's possible, but it's not something we want. Honestly we don't want people spending hours in their cars." |
