Friend coming to Vancouver!
Hello everyone, I have a friend from Regina, Saskatchewan coming to Vancouver this weekend. What are some places (other than the mall) I should take her considering the crappy weather projected for this weekend. Eg. places to eat, things to see, etc.

Re: Friend coming to Vancouver!
it's all persoanl preference. if you want her to have a real vancouver experience it's all about the parks and beaches here (definately not the prairies)
parks: stanley park, qe park, grouse mountain, WRECK beach is a must lynn canyon opposed to capilano suspesion bridge (why pay when you can see a smaller version for free!) you also have harrison hotsprings if you can squeeze it in shopping: robson and kitsilano's w.4th boutiques and when you're tired you can stroll down to kits beach and have yourself some starbucks while you're at it. for you meals, DO NOT go to any restaurant with a view unless you don't mind having bad food. i believe it's a known with everyone that all restaurants with a view does not care much for quality of food. with the exception of C Restaurant. they have high standards. Downtown after shoppping:Le Crocodile (on smithe), Parkside (amazing little restaurant with immaculate wine list on Haro), Hapa Izakaya (on robson), ShiroBay (yaletown) If in Kits: Lumiere or Feenies on broadway, octopus garden (authentic japanese on 1st ave, you have to order a sundae to share if you go, kinda like ghiradelli style), West on granville or Cru on broadway if you want steak go to either hy's gothams or mortan's most other chophouses will be a disappointment as for asian food, just go into richmond pick and choose. it's a matter of palette. too vast a variety. if you want cheap, for taiwainese food i like Well Tea on Hazelbridge best, both the food and bbt is good there. at night you go bar hopping downtown!! the gay bars are always a blast and eye candy on top of it all!! go to afterhours after the bars close down (if you're into that) and do it all over again the next day! for breakkie you definately need to take your friend to dimsum!! vancouver is known for it's food!! so eat eat eat. KIRIN is always the best bet if you want to impress. the quality and service are always consistent excellent! |

Re: Friend coming to Vancouver!
take her to the sea bus, or the harbour centre( that really high tower), and eat the restaurant there. Its pretty high priced, but the restaurant goes in circles, so your friend can see the whole city!
good luck :D |
